BusBsl In brief

Barisal Unnyon Sangstha(BUS) was incepted in the beginning of the year 1995 by the heartiest initiative of Md. Shafiqul Islam, renowned social worker, with orious background and capabilities as an experienced and highly trained NGO Official, and of a group of committed social workers who also served in different voluntary development agencies for a long period of time, with a view and spirit to preside philanthropic services, for the socio-economic and right based development, to the marginalized and poor local community people in Bangladesh. Primarily, the target area was selected of Barisal Divisional Region, on the southern part of Bangladesh, comprises mainly 6 districts. All our services are based on our sincere expression of love and compassion to the poorest section of the society. In Bangladesh, now 40% people are being treated under the poverty line and this percentage is muse higher in Barisal Region, mainly to desolated rural mass. They continuously suffer from severe hunger, illiteracy, superstition, stiltedness, disabilities, lack of adequate professional opportunities and other humanitarian, gender and civil rights. The position of rural people or people lives in the isolated coastal belt, silted and marshland areas are quite grim and inhumane. They are deprived of the development budget drawn fiscally by Bangladesh Government and no real services nor resources practically able to reach them to improve their socio economic, health, education and humane status. So they are victim of severe poverty & unemployment, poor health & mal-nutrition, unsafe water & unhealthy sanitation, tack of professional skill & education and prey of social injustice, oppression, torture, and exploitation even trafficking for il motivated ends in the rural areas, 80%people are either landless or marginal farmers, working as agro based labor only during the cultivation and harvesting season. Natural disaster play a vital role affect their living regularly as their standing crops are washed away by the grin strike of food and cyclone, many hardcore people in the rural area build their huts in the dams and government owned lands and as the southern deltaic region is woven by rivers and their branches and sub- branches, river erosion is the common phenomenon to them. So, migration to urban slums by rural hardcore and UN-rooted people for earning livelihood is immense in the Barisal region. BUS is emerged as a community based non-Government and non political philanthropic development organization to uplift the condition of such people around us.
